Right to Disconnect: Are You Ready?
Heads up! The Right to Disconnect legislation kicks in on August 26th for non-small business employers. Are you prepared? π€
Key points:
Employees can now refuse work-related contact outside work hours (with reasonable exceptions)
No penalties for sending off-hours emails, but employees can't be punished for not responding
This applies to contact from third parties too.
Some things to consider for your business β do you have time zones, flexible work arrangements, or other relevant risks to tackle? Then think about updating your documents to comply with the new legislation, including defining reasonable out of hours contact, if its sometimes required. And last but not least β donβt forget to train your managers and provide them education.
Remember, this isn't about restricting flexibility - it's about creating healthier boundaries and respecting personal time.
How often do you contact your team outside work hours? Might be time to rethink those late-night emails! π‘
